Salvation Has No Name

A film by Joseph Wallace

Salvation Has No Name is the latest film from BAFTA-nominated Animation Director Joseph Wallace. The film is a 17-minute cinematic folk tale that acts as a political allegory, exploring prevalent themes of xenophobia and the refugee crisis.

“A troupe of clowns gather to perform a story about a Priest and a refugee but as their misguided tale unfolds, the boundaries between fiction and reality begin to fray.”

Produced by Delaval Film and Exec Produced by Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams, Salvation Has No Name features an all-female voice cast, including Money Heist’s Itziar Ituño and Quantico’s Yasmine Al Massri. The film is co-produced by Autour de Minuit and Animation People, funded by the BFI, France Televisions, CNC, and the Czech Film Commission.

Salvation premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival 2022, where the refugee organization Choose Love was announced as the film’s official charity partner with the intention to use the short as a tool to highlight the plight of refugees through their humanitarian work. The film won the Grand Prix and Best Director at Animage festival in Brazil, was long-listed for both a BIFA and a BAFTA, and received the Jury Special Mention at the Unifrance Short Film Awards at Cannes 2023.
